All Costa Code usage happens in a 5 hour session window. That window starts from your first message and ends exactly 5 hours later. We call this time window a session. After a session ends, a new one automatically starts the next time you send a prompt.
Each session comes with a points allowance based on your pricing tier. Every action you take — like generating code, applying edits, or running commands — uses points. When your points for a session run out, you will need to wait for the next session, apply a Booster Pack, or upgrade your plan to keep working. For more information about how points work, see our Points page.
We analyze session patterns (securely and privately) to help you discover best practices, compare across agents and train your AI assisted coding muscles

Have you ever been stuck in a conversation that you knew it was going nowhere?Coding is like that sometimes too. Some of the most expensive model calls (i.e. high context length) are actually the least valuable. Sessions help us balance usage across providers, models and people.Sometimes when you hit a session limit you will need to keep going. That is why we invented Booster Packs. So you can keep the vibe going. Other times, it is time for a walk. With our highest tier plans, we find people rarely hit session limits.
Each pricing tier includes a set number of sessions and a points budget per session. But we understand that sometimes you are mid-vibe and want to keep going, so we include a few point Booster Packs every month (and ways to earn more). Our sessions and points are designed to give engineers on our Max plan the feeling of near unlimited assisted coding. But Costa Code is designed for humans that are using AI to make themselves better coders, not for agents running 24/7 without humans in the loop.
