What are Points?
Every action in Costa Code consumes Points. Points are our common currency across models, context sizes, and tiers — making it simple to compare usage and stay within your plan. Points ensure a fair balance between:- Model cost (larger / more capable models consume more points)
- Context size (longer prompts use more points)

We cap usable context at 200k tokens across all models for consistency.
Tokens are not the exact same from model to model, which can affect context length.In most cases, they vary by only a small amount (0-5%).

Smarter Point Usage
💫 Cosmic Routers use smart routing to get you the most capability per point. Instead of always sending requests to the most expensive model, Cosmic Routers dynamically balance Advanced and Premium models to maximize performance while conserving points. Cosmic routers use at least an Advanced tier model, and cost half the price of our Advanced tier. When you opt into 💫 Cosmic Routing, you unlock the best of the latest techniques in using LLMs:- Maximum value — Cosmic routing ensures every token is spent where it matters most.
- Smarter allocation — routine edits or small completions are routed to efficient models, while complex refactors or large-context jobs get escalated to more powerful tiers.

Booster Packs
When you reach the end of your points allowance within a 5-hour session, you will need to wait until the end of the 5 hours to start a new session. Sometimes, that’s a good thing (because you need to take a break). But sometimes you are mid-flow on something REALLY IMPORTANT and you just want to keep the vibe going. Booster Pack Mechanics
Single Use: Once used, a booster pack will last only until the end of that session. So don’t add them if your 5-hour time period is about to end (unless you can use it up quickly). Expiration: Booster packs expire. At the start of each month, depending on your price tier, you may receive some Booster Packs that will expire at the end of that month. Most other Booster Packs expire one year from when they are granted. Earn Booster Packs: We need feedback - particularly about our analytics. After each session, you can earn a Booster Pack by giving us some feedback. Check your dashboard for something like this:
